The bowls are hand carved with a chainsaw using hardwoods cut during a road widening project in Dominica.
The bowls reflect the process the indigenous Carib Indians,
the 'Kalinago' still use to hand carve and shape canoes made from single trunks. the trunks are carved out on site and burnt to ease the process, they are then filled with water and rocks to spread what will become the hull of the fishing boat.
